I am so thankful that we can do outdoor time a lot! So blessed that God has finally answered our prayer to move into a better house and community. For over a month already, my son has been able to ride his bike almost every day, play with other kids, run without the dangers of getting hit by a passing vehicle, and go for a swim.
Though it can be very tiring at times, I really love being a Mom to my 5-year-old and 6-month-old. I want to savor every moment that I have with them – the good and the not-so-good ones. I want to do as much as I can for them and with them. I want to enjoy the surprises that life brings during this season. Hopefully, when they are ready to spread their wings and leave our nest, I will not regret anything.
Parenting is not for the faint-hearted. That’s what I have come to realize now that I’m a mom to a 5-year-old boy and a 5-month-old baby girl. I want to be a loving and nurturing mother to my little ones, but I also have to be firm and tough when it comes to instilling discipline.
Some days are not that good. Yesterday was one of those days.
I woke up feeling a bit grumpy. It intensified when our water supply was threatening to bail out on us, yet again.
My cheerful baby became fussy at mid-day. She would cry at the slightest sign of being laid (down) on the bed. She needs me and I couldn’t bear to see her cry so hard.
My adorable preschooler was messier than usual. Or maybe, because my day didn’t start out right, my tolerance for spills and clutter have decreased significantly. I yelled (not proud of it, by the way) and he muttered, “Sorry, Mommy.”
Two pre-teens – my nephew and my niece – were left under my care for the day. They are helpful (some of the chores and a bit of child care) but they can be a handful at times. Pre-teens and preschooler playing together. Fun, right? Well, not if they get so rough with each other and cause quite a ruckus disturbing an irritable baby! So, I yelled, yet again.
As the hours dragged on, I felt exhausted. It seemed like this bunch decided to conspire on me on a Monday and unleash their not-so-good mood and behavior.
By 9PM, I was feeling outnumbered with no sight of reinforcement. Like a soldier left in the midst of a battle. Okay, that may be an exaggeration, but really, I felt so drained and helpless! Taking care of four kids is no mean feat!
The burden was gradually lifted when Hubs finally came home and my Mom and Sis picked up the older kids. My little ones and I settled in for the night while I tried to sneak in some work on my phone. Though, a glitch on a work app annoyed me and the stress monster popped out once more.
Hubs, who was having dinner at that time downstairs, told me that cold treats were on the way. I was surprised and thankful that finally, I get to have something sweet (thoughtfulness and treats) to cap the night off. While waiting for it, I snuggled with my firstborn reading about the upcoming appearance of the super blue blood moon. My baby was finally relaxed and sleeping soundly behind us. My little boy and I prayed together for what happened the whole. I prayed that GOD will give us grace and guidance each day, and that we will always remember how blessed we are.
Hoping and praying for happier and better days ahead!
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV
This is my son’s Christmas craft. It was originally part of an activity at last Sunday’s Kids Church. As part of our crafting at home, I asked him to put googly eyes, add cotton on its wings and paint the angel. I only taught him how to glue the cotton balls then he did the rest.
The output wasn’t perfect but I’m posting a photo of it here. He made an effort to do it and smiled proudly when he showed it to me. I commended him for his work. I have added the angel as an ornament on our Christmas tree.
I used to get stressed when he can’t color or paint properly. Lately, I have realized that the mess, the smudge, using an unusual hue are all part of the learning process. They, in fact, contribute to my child’s emerging creativity. I wouldn’t stifle that!
Will share more of my son’s (and later on, my daughter’s) artworks here 🙂
I’m 37 weeks pregnant this week and pretty soon, we will be welcoming Baby #2.
This last trimester is very crucial. I was told to go on bed rest because my doctor discovered from my ultrasound that my baby is on the lighter side. She asked me if I have been eating as I should be. I said yes and even told her that I have a big appetite. She then asked me about my physical activities and that’s when she found out that I’ve been moving a lot, thus making myself exhausted in the process. Going on bed rest was not easy for me. I need to be on my toes for my firstborn, and there are chores and errands that I must do. I kept reminding myself self that I need to follow my OB’s advice for the well-being of my baby. To ensure that my baby will gain weight, the doc changed my multivitamins, in addition to having bed rest. By God’s grace, in a few weeks, my baby is in a healthy weight. I felt well rested too and the panting that I used to feel has decreased.
I told my husband that I feel like I am getting married again. I have a ton on my to-do list and I am looking for a new house – the same thing that I did back when we were about to tie the knot.
We were supposed to move into a boungalow house (one that is ideal for our family) last July but it didn’t push through. We felt sad about that it but trust that it was God’s way of protecting us. He has a better plan. As of this time, I’m still looking for a house that we can move into. I’ve been praying that we don’t settle for anything else and make impulse decisions.
As for my to-do list, I’m happy that we have accomplished a lot of things already. I am almost finished with packing our hospital bag. It’s actually a carry-on luggage so it would be convenient for my husband to lug it around when we rush to the hospital in time for the big day. I have also packed my son’s backpack – just so we can leave him at my parents’ house, depending on which time I would go on labor. We bought a new stroller, more stuff for our new baby (mostly consumables), and a stock of food and grocery items that would tide us in the first month. We have de-cluttered, packed away things that we don’t use often, and cleaned a greater portion of our apartment thoroughly. My husband has also cleaned up and set up our firstborn’s crib yesterday. Upon seeing it, our soon-to-be Kuya wanted to jump inside. Maybe he wanted to feel what it’s like to be a little baby again 🙂
I’m praying that everything will be alright as I deliver our bunso into this world. I’m also asking God for guidance, wisdom, grace, patience and strength as my family enter into a new season in our lives.
We rarely buy the complete set of featured toy’s at McDonald’s.
This June 2017, the fastfood giant has the adorable Agnes and the Minions as toys in every Happy Meal since the sequel of Despicable Me will be shown in cinemas this month. We have seen the first two movies including its offshoot Minions movie. But, my son loves the first Despicable Me movie the most, as keeps on asking me to play it every single day.
When his Dad asked him which toy he wants from the selection of this month’s Happy Meal, he asked for the Agnes toy. His Dad, surprised, asked him again which toy he wants. Our boy just repeated his previous answered. The following night when his Dad came home from work and gave him his requested toy, he thanked me and his Dad before opening it. When it was out of the package, he looked at my preggy tummy, held out Agnes and said, “For baby!” I was touched by the thoughtfulness of my four-year old! He opted to get a toy first for his baby sister even when she wouldn’t actually see her big brother‘s gift yet until September. I was amazed and a bit surprised at his gesture. For four years of not having to share his Happy Meal toys (at least when playing at home), he suddenly thought of giving first to his sibling who is yet to be born, before having his own toy. I pray that he will continue to be generous to his sister and his sister would be the same to him as well as they grow up.
In the days the followed, my husband kept on having Happy Meals for lunch so he can bring home the Minions toys. Last Saturday when we went out, each of us ordered a Happy Meal for merienda just so we can get three Despicable Me 3 toys. Check out our first ever video about toys below.
Here are all the Despicable Me 3 Toys that we got from McDonald’s Happy Meals.
A couple of hours before, I consumed orange juice and had a chocolate chip cookie smoothie in the hopes of waking up the baby in time for the ultrasound. None of these tips worked as the baby seem to be sound asleep inside my womb. But, GOD knows what we need when we need it.
When we all entered the ultrasound room in time for the congenital anomaly scan (CAS), my firstborn got so excited and giddy because we are going to see baby on screen again. We have confirmed that the baby is indeed asleep as there was no movement, but the OB-Sono was able to identify and measure some of baby’s body parts. As she tells us which part of baby is being shown on screen, my little boy was in awe and got all the more excited and kept saying “That’s baby baby!” The doctor ran her instrument on the part of baby’s legs and we all found out that we are having a baby girl. I told my son who was standing next to my bed, “You have a baby sister!” He then happily repeated, “Baby sister!”
Our baby finally woke up, probably because she heard her big brother‘s voice that was full of excitement even if he was just seeing her in black and white from the machine’s monitor. She might have sensed her Kuya’s happiness to see her from a vision of Mommy’s womb. Our baby girl positioned herself to show her face, as if to say Hi to us, and her whole body, which made us sure that she is indeed a girl. She opened and closed one of her hands while facing us (or the instrument of the machine, at least) and with one hand, held one of her feet for a time.
At the end of the scan, the doctor reported that our baby girl is in good health and has complete body parts and organs. When we were all by ourselves, my husband and I, together with our firstborn, thanked GOD for keeping our baby in excellent health, growth and development. We thanked Him for my good health as well. We continue to pray for a healthy and normal delivery (I was CS on my first) and baby’s overall good health.
Soon we’ll be a family of four 🙂 I know that it would be challenging to be a mom to two kids under four (a preschooler and a newborn) but I feel so blessed to be chosen by GOD to be the mother of these precious little ones.
It was a privilege to have witnessed the #Kidspirations launch at Ayala Malls The 30th in Meralco Avenue, Pasig City last April 29, 2017.
Since we’re not that familiar in the area, we arrived at the event a bit late than my target schedule. As soon as I have registered, I went inside to take pictures. I didn’t know that my husband and son followed me inside. When I turned around, my husband was already shopping for shoes for our little boy at the shoe sale just a few steps away from the Kidspiration entrance. My husband is really like that – quick to spot a great find for our son. When I joined them, I saw that it was indeed a great one. It was a pair of navy blue, Chicco loafers that are made of synthetic leather. It was on sale for only Php499 and it was the last pair. It’s bigger by half an inch but we took it anyway since our son’s feet gets bigger in a few months.
Next stop was the All Products Flash Sale kiosk. It was filled with toys and art supplies that kids of all ages will surely love. It was my son’s turn to shop! As he went around the kiosk, he peruse the items within his reach. At last, he found something that he really, really like.
He took it and told me, “I want it. Open?” I told him that we have to pay for it first. He’s been holding that toy as we go around the different shelves to check out the other items. He looked so determined in having that toy. I asked him if he really like it. He answered in a loud “Yes!” I asked him if the are plenty of toys inside the plastic dome. He said yes again and pointed at the illustrations in the label. This kid sure knows how to justify his purchase! I looked at its orange tag (Php400) and the original price tag (Php599). Not bad, Php199 off. My husband agreed and told me to buy it too.
On our way to the cashier, we spotted the ELLE Onesies which were being sold at 90% off! That deal was so hard to resist. Good quality and brightly colored onesies for infants and toddlers which were being sold at Php100 each that day. We are not yet sure about the gender of our next baby so we bought a red onesie fit for 0-6 months old and a blue one that our baby can wear when he/she turns 6-12 months old. We actually wanted to get the white one but it was no longer available on the size that we need.
After we finished our shopping, we decided to have lunch first then go back to the Kidspirations event after to watch the ELLE Kids Fashion Show. Whenever we eat out, we would usually take out the iPad to entertain our son and for all of us to eat well. But because my son was so excited to play with his new toy, he completely forgot about the iPad and asked permission to open his little package. He was delighted to find 6 Ice Age animals inside and couldn’t wait to play with them. The set also comes with 2 plastic rocks, a paper play mat, and 6 name cards that give more information about each of the Ice Age animals. This play set might look boring to some but my son definitely enjoyed playing with it. One more good thing about Ice Age to Go is that my son learned about those animals while he was playing with them. Talk about learning through play! We learned about the scientific names of those creatures as well as their age, dimension, the era through which they exist, and a bit of trivia about them. My son used his imagination and creativity to play with his new toys. He made them walk through the ice pictured on the mat, hid them inside the plastic glacier cover, and asked us to help him match the cards with the animals. This continued up until we got home. We even came up with other games and stories that involved this Ice Age to Go set.
Going back to the Kidspirations event…
I only had a few minutes to browse on the other items on display just before the fashion show started. There are so many Crayola art supplies to choose from.
There was the Crayola Pick Your Pack promo where you can choose any color of the Crayola crayons that you like. For only Php99.75, you get to have 24pcs of the crayons that you fancy and include those that do not normally appear in the usual pack. Anybody heard of the colors Wisteria, Purple Mountains Majesty, and Wild Blue Yonder? These are only a few of the uniquely named Crayola crayons in that vast selection.
Crayola’s Color Wonder pack featuring the adorable Minions. The big pack has 18 coloring pages and comes with Mesa Free Markers (Php250). The small pack has 80 mini coloring pages and 6 washable mini markers (Php200).
There were plenty of toys for older kids that were on sale, too.
The afternoon program started as the day’s emcee, Mommy Kristine, welcomed the audience and introduced Ms. Maye Yao Co Say to give us a background of the Ogalala brand.
Ms. Maye Yao Co Say, the COO of Ogalala World, gave us a background of how the Ogalala brand was developed and how it intends to help parents and kids to thrive and inspire others.
Ogalala has created the System in PLAY and CARE in order to help parents identify the milestones in their children’s life stages and adapt to their learning method and care needs. The system is backed by extensive research and advice from child development experts which makes it adaptable regardless of our parenting style.
On the other hand, Kidspirations is an advocacy spearheaded by Ogalala which aims to help parents raise happy, fulfilled, and purposeful children. This advocacy also encourages kids to inspire other kids.
From the Advertorial:
What is the #Kidspirations Parade?
“Let Inspirations be part of our personal goal, part of our own milestones. Be something and be someone. Be a kid with a purpose, Be #kidspirations to yourself and to others.”
That is the main motive of the parade to showcase #kidspiration stories to promote ideals and aspirations of parents and expectant mothers.
Sharing both parents’ and kids’ aspirations through their #kidspiration stories realizes the Goal of Ogalala for children to have a happy, fulfilled and purposeful future.
This parade is a small step which Ogalala hopes can lead to a bigger leap for parents and children to be #kidspirations.
As a parent, I see the Ogalala System in Play and Care as a big help in choosing what’s best for my preschooler and my soon-to-be-born baby. With the myriad of options that the market has in store for us, we sometimes second guess on what will be really useful and worth our money. With Ogalala, we are confident that we will be buying educational toys, baby products and kids’ fashion items that were carefully curated to suit our children’s needs.
After Ms Yao Co Say’s very informative presentation was the fashion show. It was a preview of ELLE Kids Spring/Summer Collection that includes the new and exciting designs inspired by the Parisian Lifestyle. Children of all ages walked confidently on the ramp to showcase the latest in ELLE Kids clothing line. The show ended after selected kids from the audience were also given the opportunity to walk the ramp, introduced themselves and shared what they want to be when they grow up. Truly a #Kidspirations moment for the kids that day!
The Ogalala #Kidspirations event was made possible in partnership with Crayola, Melissa & Doug, EMCO, Animal Planet, The Learning Journey, Discovery Kids, Pigeon, Safety1st, Ergo Baby, Quinny & Maxi Cosi, and, ELLE Kids.

The beauty of homeschooling is that we can go on field trips whenever and wherever we can. So, one fine Saturday, we traveled to Taguig to check out The Mind Museum’s fifth travelling exhibition, the Science Circus. It’s such a blessing that we all have All-Day Passes, which also gave us access to the exhibits inside The Mind Museum.
The Science Circus is situated outside the main museum, in the middle of the J.Y. Campos Park. As soon as my son saw the entrance to the Circus, he squealed in delight and couldn’t wait to get inside. When we got in, I thought that there was not much to explore as the set-up was not as big as that of the previous Dino Play. I was wrong. Our little boy couldn’t get enough of the interactive exhibits. My husband and I also had fun tinkering at the elements inside the Science Circus. The elements may seem ordinary but it sure challenged us how to make them work and how everything fits in.
My son’s favorite is the Deception Perception. Check out our IG video below. He just kept on lining up again and again just so he could play inside the odd-shaped room and marvel at how the balls would roll through the trough and into the wire basket.
He just couldn’t get enough of the Perception Deception that he just kept lining up again and again to get inside! I feel dizzy each time we get in but seeing my son have fun and satisfy his curiosity, makes everything all worth it. Go and take your kids to @themindmuseum and let them feed their little minds! @mommybloggersphilippines #EnterTheScienceCircus #TheMindMuseum #momblogger #keepingupwithapreschooler #fieldtrip #homeschool Read my blog for schedule and ticket details: http://heapsofgrace.com/ladies-and-gentlemen-the-science-circus-has-come-to-town/

Here’s another one of my son’s favorites. I actually loved this exhibit too for its cushioned floor gave comfort to my tired feet. My kid spent a lot of time in this exhibit. He wanted to build a fort so he kept on putting the pieces on top of each other then he would get on top and let himself fall down and roll on the floor. Silly little boy! This is also where he was able to find a playmate, another boy who looked like a child of an expat. He’s a bit older than my son and I admired that he played nice and was a bit patient knowing that he’s playing with a younger kid. Praying for more children like him 🙂
I have played with Tangrams before but I didn’t know that they are called until we visited the Science Circus. See, it pays to go on educational tours, because we not only learn a lot but it also reinforces what we think we already know.
This exhibit is so fun! All you have to do is rearrange the discs and gears in each segment. Once you have figured out the correct set-up, the segment would move.
Liked what you see and read from my post? Go ahead and take your whole family to The Mind Museum’s Science Circus! Your trip would all be worth it because you will not only learn a thing or two but you will have fun tinkering with the elements as well.
Together with Mastercard, The Mind Museum offers something enticing for visitors! Use your Mastercard and avail of a 3+1 treat to any admission ticket to the Museum or its special exhibitions. See posters for full details. Until December 30, 2016 only.
If you have extra money, please also consider donating to The Mind Museum. Being a non-profit organization, the museum would appreciate funding so they can keep on making the exhibits affordable to students and teachers, especially those in public schools.
Feel free to explore around my little online home!
You will read about our journey in homeschooling, my hits and misses in being a plant mom, the joy I find in baking, my newfound love for sewing, and most of all, my amazement at how GOD sustains me with His blessings, grace and mercies in my every day life.
